Sir Hugh de Venables VII, the 10th Baron of Kinderton, my 18th great grandfather, was born about 1298 in Kinderton-cum-Hulme, Cheshire, England. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Mobberly, daughter of William Mobberly. She was born about 1315 in Mobberly, Cheshire, England. Hugh and Elizabeth are the parents of at least one son, William.
Sir Hugh’s second marriage was to Katherine Houghton, daughter of Richard de Houghton and Sybil de Lea. She was born about 1312 in Houghton, Lancashire, England. Hugh and Katherine are the parents of at least six children.
1. Hugh (1333-1383) married Margery de Cotton and Ellen Huxleigh de Brooke.
2. Thomas was born about 1334.
3. Joan (1334-1397) married Sir Thomas Lathom.
4. Richard (1336-1379) married Joan Thorton Fitton.
5. Roger (1332-1388) married Elizabeth Goldborne,
6. Margaret (1342-1417) married. Thomas Davenport.
As with most people who lived at this time, there is much information and a lot of different dates. Some sources list 1360 as the date of death for Elizabeth Mobberly, Oct 1367 as the date of death for Hugh in Kinderton, Cheshire, and Katherine in 1368, also in Kinderton, Cheshire.
